We have a variety of specialist collections from HM Custom and Excise documentation to finds of the 17th and 18th century made on the Thames foreshore.

  • Dock Police, including uniforms, fire arms, cutlasses and truncheons
  • Trade union items, including an 1889 Great Dock Strike Banner
  • Dock surveying equipment
  • Transport by road and rail including some vehicles and material relating to the PLA Railway Department
  • Administrative material, including office equipment and furniture from the period 1850-1970

  • Signs and notices relating to every conceivable aspect of port and river work

  • Whaling items relating to London’s Greenland and Southern Whale Fisheries
