Access and enquiries

Here you will find information relating to general enquires and those which relate to our artefact collections.

General enquires

In order to help us answer your question please try and be specific as you can with your request and give us as much detail as possible.

Additionally, you may find it helpful to check our frequently asked questions pages to see if your question is already answered there.
Please note that we are not able to carry out valuations of objects and documents.

Due to the number of archive enquiries that we receive it may take a number of days to respond. We aim to reply to all enquiries within 20 days.

Artefact collections

The most important artefacts from the Port and River collection are on display in the Museum in Docklands but the collection is much larger

Details of our holdings are provided in our Artefact Collections are which you can link to from here.

Please note, the Port and River collection is currently being moved to a new store and objects are not therefore accessible for study research. This is a temporary measure and access will be restored in due course.

Photographs and visual material can be accessed through the Sainsbury Study Centre.

The oral history tapes associated with the port and river working life groups are held at the Museum of London and can be accessed there.

Phone and email enquiries

Museum staff can answer enquiries about the collections and the history of the port and river, however please note that we cannot undertake detailed research for enquirers.

Please email us at info@museumindocklands.org.uk or call the box office on 0870 444 3856 and your enquiry will be passed to the appropriate person.
