This artwork is by artist James McNeill Whistler, a famous artist who lived 1834 – 1903. This image is one of a set he did of the Thames. Whistler was inspired by the busy atmosphere of the warehouses and dock workers.

How do you feel when you walk along the Thames or by the docks? If you painted the Thames would your picture be calm or busy? Why?
