Staff and pupil ratios
Foundation Stage, KS1 and KS2
A minimum adult to pupil ratio of 1:6 is required for KS1 and KS2 visits. We recommend a higher ratio for Foundation Stage visits, as per school and LEA guidelines. There is no limit on the number of adults who can accompany a group.
Secondary groups
A minimum adult to pupil ratio of 1:10 is required for secondary schools. This is for health and safety reasons relating to the layout of the Museum of London Docklands and also ensures that the pupils get the most out of their day.
SEN groups
An adult to pupil ratio of 1:5 is recommended for SEN schools.
Food
All booked school visits can be allocated space in the lunchroom where classes can eat their own packed lunches. Please request this when making your booking.
Cloakrooms
Coat racks are available for schools and groups, and will be allocated to booked groups on arrival.
Toilets
Toilets for schools and other booked educational groups are in the basement area. There are also accessible toilets in the basement and on the ground floor.
Shop
Shops at both our Museums stock a wide range of books, resource packs, DVDs and other products which you may find useful, covering subjects including the Romans, the Fire of London and Victorian London. Don't forget our time-saving goody bag service if you are planning a visit with your group. School groups wishing to visit the Museum shops must do so in small groups only.
